I want to get very good at video editing. Learning from on line tutorials is hard for me. How many screens do I need anyway? Three is not enough! For me, this is the unsinkable way to go. This series is laid out impeccably and helpfully. You have to really want to! You may do some head banging against the wall, but that is not the fault of the book. You are going to have to bear down and surmount problems.
Quick example: There is a CD included in the paperback copy of the book make sure the issue you get is exactly right for the version of Premier Pro you are working with. Do you know I'd actually forgotten however that I do not have a CD drive anymore? This should not have been a problem: There are links and instructions for downloading missing materials from "PeachPit. I have solved the problem, but that is what I am trying to say.
It is NOT going to be smooth sailing for the novice. It is going to be hard and take dedication and determination. You will be set for making very good money. Buy it.. One person found this helpful. You used to make great products that didn't require subscriptions, and quality reference materials Daughter needed this book for her college class and it was much cheaper here than her college bookstore. Very difficult to follow.

There are many problems with reading along and doing the exercises in this book. Many of the "how tos" are now incorrect because the menu items and buttons now exist in different locations in the app.
This book is also confusing and written poorly. If you don't have to use this as a school text book, skip it! Hopefully a new version with updated corresponding lessens will replace this one. I am just a beginning student in Premiere Pro.
Yes the files are a bit hard to get to, but you just have to know what you're doing. You have to highlight it to see where it's been, and then go to the path of your lesson files. Don't give up on this book.
Yes, it's difficult but it's also a huge upgrade from anything before -- you really need to be interested in making short videos and even movies. I was having so much trouble in class before purchasing the book -- also find an editing class at a local college that is using it already. I have also ordered "Infinite Skills for Premiere Pro" as recommended in our current class.
None of this is an easy learn. You're working with the big boys and moviemakers. You will spend a lot of time but wow, it sure is addictive! I beleived that some files were missing, but they are there, not easy to find! If you have no experience at all, it could be difficult to understand all the new informations. Whatever your level is true beggining or need to refresh your skills , the good point with this book is that if you have some patience , you will have some solid basis and good practices that make gain time later.

Sooo, this book will be good for some, and not for others. That will be the case with most of these books. If you prefer a hands on approach, that allows you to work right along with the instruction? This book is very good. I have the kindle version and it's perfect on my ipad mini, tablet, and phone. There is some material that is included only in the printed book, however there are instructions on how to obtain the same materials online for free. If you prefer a reference book, that you go to a particular subject and get instruction from on a particular skill?
Part of this books learning process is doing what you learn in segments along with the text. Versus just reading it. If you are fond of the "Scott Kelby" style, which is straight to the point, with no technical explanation?
Just telling you what to do to get a certain result in very simple instructions? I like all three ways of learning, and will purchase each type of book as they release them. Right now most are still pre-orders. Typical of this classroom in a book series but the problem is it is for an older version of Prelude Pro CC and the exercise files will not open. Without the exercise files the book is really worth little and following along using your own files would be difficult.

First of all, the seller sent the book in a bad condition. The cover is ruined and the book feels like has gone through a lot.
I have no idea if it is sent back copy by someone or not. I can forgive that. But publisher in a measure to cut cost basically xeroxed the original book.
You can't understand any images. Text is barely readable and there are clear ink marks on pages. Do NOT buy any low-cost editions. I got the book today All are in complete black. The book is not original.
There is no other go except returning the book. Please send original book with colour pictures and Classroom in a Book CD rom. Pathetic product. Pages printed inverse. Page layout cut. Barely visible text and blackened graphics. Have I been given a pirated copy?????

Very frustrating! Report abuse. I found this book difficult to follow. Too much writing to few images or screenshots. Premiere pro is a sophisticated system but these instructions which I follow from Kindle have helped me to quickly grasp it.
